Corey Jones, 29, of Flax Lane in Levittown, was arrested after a chase that began when officers tried to stop his 2019 Hyundai Elantra for a suspended registration near the entrance ramp of the Southern State Parkway at Exit 20, according to First Squad detectives.
As officers approached, Jones allegedly sped off eastbound, committing multiple traffic violations before exiting the parkway and striking a 2019 Land Rover at the intersection of W. Greenwich Avenue and Brookside Avenue. Police say he then collided with a 2002 Mercedes before ditching the Hyundai and fleeing on foot down W. Greenwich Avenue.
Officers caught Jones after a brief foot pursuit and took him into custody without further incident, detectives said.
The 27-year-old woman driving the Land Rover and her one-year-old son were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators say they recovered three pills believed to be oxycodone hydrochloride during the arrest.
Jones is charged with:
- Felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
- Misdemeanor Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree.
- Misdemeanor Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree.
- Misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.
- Misdemeanor Endangering Welfare of a Child.

Jones is also charged with Felony Burglary 3rd Degree stemming from a separate burglary in Nassau County on December 26, 2024, police said.
His preliminary arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
